New EP and Other Updates

A few overdue updates on my end. The most current one: I’m happy to report that after two years of lack of drive, and being caught up with a few other matters, I’ve finally released a new EP album of music: “Waveforms V2”! Meant as a followup to “Waveforms”, it expands on my idea of making retrowave compositions limiting all sound instances to a given synthesizer, mostly from the 80s or 90s. While one synthesizer, the Synclavier, returns for a single piece, all other tunes are based on different synthesizers than in v1.

Currently it’s a Bandcamp exclusive, though in time, I’ll find a good opportunity to distribute to iTunes/Apple Music and Spotify as well. Hopefully general retro music fans will appreciate the musical and visual aesthetic while tech-heads and wannabe electronic musicians will find this helpful for making a well informed decision about acquiring the gear of concern!

Speaking of tech-heads, another update is a bit long-winded, but I’m honored to say that I’m a contributor to the code for the now-open-source Shortcircuit XT! The site linked will speak for itself, but recently, I did end up contributing a small bit of code for the sample playback algorithms, adding an optional playback quality that I hope will sound more faithful to a virtualized Fairlight CMI or Synclavier than some other attempts by others.

As for game-related matters, this week also wrapped up with a public demonstration of co-op in the new DLC for Brok: The InvestiGator, which I am still involved with after all this time! Sound design for Zid Journey for cutscenes is also going fairly smoothly, and I’m honored to have discovered that the person I mainly communicate with from Azure Mountain is one of the beta testers for Argonaut Games, and while I didn’t get the privilege of such a role for the recent Croc remaster, it certainly goes to show that networking can help!

That’s all for the time being, but I think what I was covered in this post was significant enough. Enjoy my new EP until next time!
